I must say That Kevin and the team were excellent to deal with, they provided accurate information and updates about the shipping, Kevin made the entire process trouble free, even assisting with arranging customs agent in Australia, Highly recommend manufacturer and product range.

Solar installer for 18 years in Hawaii.
Best battery I’ve had the pleasure of using, hands down.
    All stainless cell hardware.
    High quality electronics.
    Cell voltage and temp display.
    High quality breaker disconnect.
    Sturdy rack mountable case.
Will not self disconnect, BMS only balances cells (this is a huge benefit for true off-grid systems).
About 5 or 6 years ago I was looking for batteries for a customer and was horribly disappointed by the locally available batteries for off-grid applications.
So I started looking abroad for quality cells and found this team. I was skeptical at first because china gets such a bad rap in the states, but my customer was Chinese so I asked her what she thought. After talking directly to Emily (my rep) my customer was more than happy to make the transaction. After we received the batteries, I was genuinely impressed and even giddy at the high quality and new possibilities this battery enabled.
As far as negatives, I can’t think of any.
This battery and it’s chemistry have massive advantages over most other widely available types and here I will explain why.
    LiFePo4 loves to accept charge.
So imagine that charging a typical battery is analogous to winding a spring. As the spring is wound with more energy, it takes more force to wind it further. Similarly, as a typical battery fills, it starts to heavily resist further charge. But not so much LiFePo4, instead a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePo4) is much more analogous to filling a balloon with water. The resistance remains steady as the balloon fills, until it reaches full at which point resistance peaks rapidly. LiFePo4 can charge extremely fast without the potential for thermal runaway, at all, period, don’t ask how I know 😜.
So what this means in the real world is that when you have less than ideal solar conditions, say a cloudy day, a system using a lead battery bank, often can not charge fully without excessive solar panels. This is because it must be fed more energy to counteract the resistance increase as it charges. But LiFePo4 will absorb much more willingly and rapidly, meaning that on a day with less sun or intermittent sun, this battery will charge much more than lead or even many other widely hyped lithium batteries including simpliphi and Tesla.

Tesla, for instance, is all hype in my opinion and far overpriced as well as not even being truly off grid capable, being only proprietorily controlled or repaired, having high and dangerous battery voltages, and thermally unstable meaning they can burst into flames and create a feedback loop of flammability known as “Thermal Runaway”. Imagine a potentially self igniting molotov cocktail attached to the side of your house…
Just like all those phones in people’s pockets that blew up.
    No thanks.
Simpliphi is another similar yet vastly inferior popular product. For instance, simpliphi has a cheap flimsy case, cheap flimsy electronics, it’s cells are unrepairable, it’s prone to needless self disconnect and programming conflicts with outback and other inverters, the cells are non stainless and highly rust prone making it extremely flood vulnerable, and a virtual moisture damage magnet. I’ve seen first hand what happens when a simpliphi sits in only one inch of water for a day (spoiler: it breaks permanently ).

I have been installing this LiFePo4 server rack battery now for over 5 years and I have not only had zero problems with any of the batteries, I haven’t even received a call back for a single issue at all with any of them. If you install for a living or just want to live a trouble free off grid life then you know how valuable that is.

Buy these batteries, you won’t be disappointed.

The battery is okay , I only give it a 4 star rating because I did not do my own research better on it’s specifications. I should have realized from research that this model has an AC breaker instead of the more appropriate DC breaker. Jakiper told me that this is only secondary protection in that the bms will be primary. So maybe it is okay as an on off switch for main power but not appropriate for shutdown under load because of arcing that an AC breaker is not designed for. Of course it would only be in an emergency that one would shut off a breaker like that under load manually and it would shut off the load .

I have it installed the battery and it is working okay though it is still breaking in and balancing cells. I have been watching the available monitoring software closely to see how everything behaves. It is very good software that lets you see each cell voltage and when they are in a balancing condition. I also like that the software also shows the state of charge . This corresponds almost exactly with the Midnite controller state of charge that I set up to the battery capacity. And it is nice that you can see the current of each battery if it is charging or discharging. I have three batteries so it is very useful. So good on the free monitoring software. But it will take time for the recommended 30 cycles of the battery for me to evaluate this battery in the long run. Coming from using lead acid batteries in the past, these lithiums are so nice in that you can charge them with more power at once compared to how charge would taper off on lead acid. This will be helpful in my northern climate where we have shorter days in the winter but get some good sun when the batteries can charge more quickly . All in all the build quality seems pretty good – I have had no issues so far.

Jakiper has been responsive in answering any questions I have when I email them. Initially I had questions about shipping , but later on about some of the charging setup for my controller. It would be nice if they had written up a bit more detail of operations for their owners manual. But the manual that came with it does have the most important info and nice that it shows the pinouts for the communications jacks. Jakiper has been making update videos to explain to people how to do certain things that were not in the manual – like how to program the bms to communicate with certain inverter chargers.

Anyway so far so good with the Jakiper batteries.

I continue to be very happy with the performance of my 5kwh jakiper 48volt battery. I paired it with an offgrid Growatt inverter.

Covers are needed for the unused connections. The older model had a plastic cover to protect the connection from inadvertent contact.
All other aspects of the Battery are a “5”

Overall it’s worked great for the last six months. I use the battery at my off-grid property for solar storage. I use it pretty heavily: discharge at least 50% most nights, and in the summer the shed its stored in gets to 110 degrees regularly. Not a hiccup so far — we’ll see how long the chemistry lasts in those conditions.

I had one issue early on — my hybrid inverter (a Growatt unit) had a default low cutoff voltage below the low cutoff voltage of the battery. This discharged the battery and then it shut off. Unfortunately, my inverter would not charge it again until it detected a voltage — but the battery wouldn’t re-enable the terminals until _it_ detected a voltage. They’re both being too “smart”. I had to buy a DC power supply to charge the battery again, forcibly, at 58V. Once it surpassed its low voltage cutoff all was well. I adjusted the inverter’s low voltage shutoff to be _above_ the battery’s, and haven’t had an issue since.

I had a second issue that arose only because of the first: in my attempts to figure out why the battery was seemingly completely dead, I triggered the anti-theft alarm. Very annoying — battery goes dead if the accelerometer is tripped. It’s labelled “T Sensor” — the T is for “Theft” not “Temperature”!

Jakiper battery was very kind and helpful when I reached out to them. They mailed me a serial / USB cable for free, which (along with their software — Windows only, *nix users beware!) which I was able to use to disable the theft detector. Honestly I do not want this anti-theft feature and I encourage them to remove it or make it optional in future models.

Very well built and high quality battery that is very reliable and completely maintenance free. I have two that see constant daily use providing me with the power I need.

The batteries are very easy to install and use. The screen allows me to see the status of the battery and individual cells from voltage to temperature, it is all there.

These batteries will work with any solar equipment making them very versatile and they are also a terrific value for the price. I highly recommend them.
